I found the picture above on the Toronto archive site (I’ll leave the exact link below). This picture peaked my interest, because, moving to Toronto, the Yonge-Dundas Square Cineplex was the first movie theatre I went to. The picture above is of the theatre at Yonge-Dundas Square in 1972. It’s crazy to see how much the area has changed in under five decades. It makes you wonder how much more change is going to take place to this area during our life time. Till my next post!

Hey!
I just wanted to say that the color scheme and just general vibe of this picture reminded me a lot of Honest Ed’s theme and brand. Fortunately, there’s still a theatre at Yonge-Dundas Square, which can’t be said for the latter.
When you wrote that it’s crazy to see how much a place can change in a few short decades, it made me think that it would have been cool if we all did then and now picture sets for this post to see the stark difference fifty or so years could make.

I think your post centres around an interesting idea- your unique perspective, being from Vancouver! As someone who has been visiting Toronto for years, being from a neighbouring city, I see drastic changes around the city sort of often (such as the one in the picture you attached). Stores get replaced, buildings get torn down, and niche areas can become popular quickly! That unique perspective can help a lot when writing about the city as you can bring different point of views. You should definitely try using it.
I also liked the idea you brought up about how much Yonge-Dundas will continue to change. Maybe one day, we’ll have even taller buildings and bigger billboards, or the area will mellow out as other areas flourish, who knows!
